The Northern Cardinal (cardinalis cardinalis) is one of the most common songbirds in North America. Commonly known as “redbirds,” adult males feature a bright crimson color with a black mask. Cardinals are ground feeders, though they’ll also go after sunflower seeds and safflower seeds on a hanging feeder.
